Site visits

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 767162.

During the conference there was also the opportunity to visit companies. The following organisations opened their doors:

Lithoz specialises in the development and production of materials and additive manufacturing systems for the 3D printing of high-performance ceramics.

The interdisciplinary collaboration of specialists in the fields of mechanical engineering, process engineering and chemistry has led to the development of a manufacturing system which allows the production of ceramics for industrial and medical use.

This Austrian-based system is specifically intended for the production of high precision, complex applications. The manufactured components meet the exacting demands of density, stability and precision required by the ceramics industry and ceramic research.

Lithoz’ in-house specialists possess expert knowledge concerning the entire ceramics manufacturing process. The company offers its customers professional consultations as well as customer-specific solutions along the entire value chain.

What was offered during the visit:

After an overall presentation of Lithoz, components from different kind of materials and their fields of application were shown. Afterwards, the CeraFab systems and their operating principle was presented.

For the site visit to Lithoz there were 2 slots available: 31 October (day 2), 10:20-13:00 or 14:30-16:30

The production of industrial products will change dramatically in the future. The pilot factory at the Technische Universitaet Wien investigates how intelligent production will work in the future.

What was offered during the visit:

The site visit included a guided tour through the production facility. The demo-production showed manufacturing and assembly processes of a 3D printer, which is the product of the pilot factory. Emphasis is put on the use of IoT devices in the production process, automated guided vehicles, assistant systems, and collaborative robots.

For the site visit to Pilotfabrik there were 2 slots available: 31 October (day 2), 10:20-13:00 or 14:30-16:30

Opel Wien GmbH has 1,600 employees and produced 1 million powertrains in 2017. Due to their high-quality fatty acids (omega-3 & 6), natural colourants and valuable proteins, microalgae, which have developed a sophisticated means of utilising and storing the sun’s energy over hundreds of millions of years, have enormous market potential worth billions.

ecoduna produces high-quality algae powder in its own production facilities using patented PBR technology in Austria.

The integration of unique technological expertise combined with biological expertise enables ecoduna to offer consistently high-quality biological resources in large quantities for the processing industry.

These valuable materials contribute to a healthy diet by supplying essential fatty acids such as omega-3, pigments and vegan proteins. We are focussing on markets such as cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, animal feeds, food and food supplements.

What was offered during the visit:

We guided you from the very beginning of ecoduna’s idea to produce microalgae in Austria till the opening of the first industrial production plant with one hectare size.
After an overall presentation about the company, you got the chance to make a guided tour through the new opened plant and learn about the fascinating skills of microalgae.

For the site visit to ecoduna there were 2 slots available: 31 October (day 2), 10:20-13:00 or 14:30-16:30
